Object of the Association
|
|
The object of the Iowa Association of Private Investigators shall be to promote interest in the field of private investigation through education and the demonstration of the highest standard of excellence by the members as defined in the Articles of Incorporation, Code of Ethics and the bylaws.

Membership
|
|
Membership is open to any owner/employee who has been issued a license as a Private Investigator or Private Investigative Agency under Chapter 80A of the Code of Iowa. Membership is also open to those licensed similarly under laws of other states. All membership is subject to the requirement of IAPI as outlined in the bylaws.

Classes of Membership
|
|
The Two classes of Membership in IAPI are:
Full Membership: A full member shall be any resident of the State of Iowa, who is duly licensed to transact business in the State of Iowa as a Private Investigative Agency or Private Investigator. Full Members shall have all rights of membership, except as provided for elsewhere in the bylaws.
Associate Membership: Associate membership is available to any out of state licensee or investigator. An associate member shall have all rights of membership except the right to serve on the Board of Directors and the right to vote.

Induction
|
|
An applicant shall submit a completed, authorized application form to the Membership Committee accompanied with the proper amount of annual dues. After verifying the applicant’s qualifications as either a Full or Associate Member, the committee shall present the application to the IAPI Board of Directors, who by majority vote, shall accept or reject the application.
